UK Construction Week 2021 Recap – What You Missed
This past week, from the 5th-7th October, we at Construction Helpline were at the NEC Birmingham for our first ever UK Construction Week 2021 (UKCW). UKCW is the largest construction event in the UK dedicated to knowledge sharing and product sourcing where brands showcase their latest innovations, products and services with thousands of attendees. UKCW provides an environment where the entire industry can discover, develop and discuss ideas on how to help build for our future. For all those who came to visit our stand, we are happy to have met you all, but for those of you who may not have been able to attend, here is a recap on what you missed during the 3-day event.
Bag A Builder
One of the businesses we showcased at the exhibition was Bag A Builder, a directory of professional, local tradespeople that can be easily accessed by both customers and tradesman. Bag A Builder allows customers to have the appropriate tools to search for the right professional based on trade, distance and rating. Our state of the art matchmaking system helps both homeowners and construction companies find authenticated, qualified and skilled tradespeople.
For those of you who came to our stand, you may have been lucky enough to win from one of our exciting giveaways, which included a premium courtesy Bag A Builder tote bag as well as a power bank.
Our “Diversity & Inclusion in Construction – Building Bridges” Talk
On the second day of the exhibition, our CEO Umer Mansoor led a diversity and inclusion presentation along with guest speakers Anjali Pandoria, Bola Abisogun OBE and Christina Demetriou. We at Construction Helpline are passionate in being a voice for diversity and inclusion within the construction industry and through implementing different methods of training and embracing new technologies, we hope to promote diversity in new ways while creating a more diverse workforce.
SkillFlow
Another project we revealed that we are really excited about was our new app, SkillFlow, that we believe will revolutionise the digital landscape in construction. SkillFlow is an online app that acts as a digital way for skilled workers to show proof that they are qualified for on-site work. It is a cloud-based system that allows qualification information to be recorded, shared and reported between employees and employers. With SkillFlow, it will be easy to upload qualifications that will show up-to-date statuses of your site information and will produce a QR code to be scanned by a site manager or employer. This will allow any employer easy access to information ready for regulation.
Catenae Innovation’s CCO Nick Delecamp, a trusted professional in the industry who has delivered extensive tech growth to a number of businesses, helped us reveal the app at the exhibition to which we received a great reception for. Stay tuned to our socials and future blog posts for updates on SkillFlow.
Construction Helpline Ltd
We also promoted ourselves at UKCW, promoting Construction Helpline as a leading, nationwide provider of testing and training resources for tradespeople and jobseekers who wish to enter or elevate their career in construction. By providing health and safety courses, in the form of CITB tests, NVQs, and CSCS card acquisition, we at Construction Helpline hope to make construction sites safer and more efficient than ever before, with the goal of establishing a more dynamic future for UK construction.
Summary
We met some amazing people and businesses across the industry at UK Construction Week 2021 and we are happy to announce that we will be back at the next Construction Week held at the London ExCel in May 2022. We hope to see you all there!
