Gold CSCS Cards are for highly skilled tradesmen who can easily develop into a supervisory/managerial role on a construction site. The card is a proof of your extensive skill, competence, and experience in your trade.
There are two types of Gold CSCS Cards available:
• CSCS Gold Advanced Craft Card: for highly skilled tradesman
• CSCS Gold Supervisor Card: For supervisors
CSCS Gold Advanced Craft Card
This is usually the next step for workers with a CSCS Blue Skilled Card. This card shows you are a tradesman skilled in your trade while the Gold CSCS Card proves you have mastered the skill set required in your role with work and experience.
Qualification required: You need to have a construction related NVQ/SVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualifications in addition to passing the CITB Health, Safety & Environment Test for Operatives. This card serves you for 5 years and then you’re required to renew it.
The road ahead: You should try to achieve NVQ/SVQ Level 4 or higher so that you can qualify to work as a supervisor by getting the Gold Supervisor Card.
CSCS Gold Supervisor Card
Want to work as a supervisor on site? This is the card you need. It’s the next step for workers who already have a CSCS Gold Advanced Craft Card.
Qualification required: You need to have a construction related NVQ/SVQ Level 4 or equivalent qualifications in addition to passing the CITB Health, Safety & Environment Test for Supervisors. This card serves you for 5 years and then you’re required to renew it.
The road ahead: You should try to move up to NVQ/SVQ Level 5 or higher qualification in order to be eligible for the CSCS Black Manager Card.
